DBM company owners Mujde Coskun and Doruk Hatipoglu have moved their depot and showroom to Etiler, Istanbul. “This location is primary for the pet sector, because it’s close to Istanbul’s business district and it is A+ in terms of income level,” Mujde Coskun told PET worldwide. The new location is right in the middle between the two bridges that connect Istanbul’s European side and the Asian side, 10 minutes away from the first bridge and less than 5 minutes from the second. In the showroom, customers can transact their business. “Many veterinary clinics and pet shops are providing wider coverage of pet products and regularly implementing new ideas in their business,” Doruk Hatipoglu states. “Our project for improving stores has been approved, which was one of our goals in this very short time.” His ambitious target is to have more than 1 000 new locations added to the over 1 600 existing ones which the company serves in Turkey. He aims to use the company’s own business model to enhance the pet industry, to which extremely low standards have applied and which has lacked the necessary investment by companies in the industry. Hatipoglu wants to promote the European standards business mentality within the Turkish pet industry. Multiple activities In October 2011 the company launched two new websites. Petcashandcarry.com belongs to Pet Cash & Carry and is intended exclusively for retailers. Petimenealsam.com is intended for retail customers. The websites are implementing a number of marketing strategies. “First of all, our price policy needs to be stabilised by both retailers and consumers,” Mujde Coskun continues. “To force the industry to comply with European standards, it’s essential for us to develop the pet industry and branding.” Both websites have already justified the company in this regard. In addition, the company is able to provide its products through xml to more than 30 pet shops’ related sites daily. “Meeting the demands and needs of our customers or suppliers quickly and reliably is the most important reason for all investments,” Doruk Hatipoglu concludes.
