Fressnapf is to invest heavily in new grooming salons in Germany and abroad. The store chain’s coat care salons, which currently number more than 50, operate under the Fressnapf Salon name or as Maxi Zoo Salons elsewhere in Europe. Fressnapf is planning to open up to 300 more grooming salons across Europe, citing the significant increase in customer demand for regular pet grooming in recent years as the reason for this move.
The company opened its first grooming salons in Germany back in 2016 under the Fellini logo. As part of the rapid expansion that it is now working on, a large number of skilled staff will be required. To achieve this, Fressnapf has created its own Fressnapf Salon Academy, which will assume responsibility from this month for certifying pet groomers in Germany and abroad.
In this venture, Fressnapf is relying on a licence from the dog grooming school with which the retailer has worked since 2016. The academy will certify up to 53 pet groomers per year. It will provide theoretical and practical knowledge on breeds, coat structure, anatomy, diseases, breed standards and pet care routines.
