The new hub was created in just nine months. To achieve this, Fressnapf engaged the services of Panattoni, which says it is the leading developer for industrial and logistics sites in Europe. On a site covering roughly 83 000 m², Panattoni developed a hub with a total usable floor area of around 47 500 m2. The building was developed as a cross dock and is 12.20 metres high with more than 100 dock levellers. 24-metre-deep intermediate floors are also available on both sides as a warehouse mezzanine for use as extra picking stations and workplaces for additional services. With a block storage area and high-bay warehouse jointly offering capacity for 3 500 articles plus around 23 000 pallets, the premises have adequate space for storing tins, bags of food and treats.

Favourable transport location

The hub is located in the commercial and industrial park Treskow I, with a direct link to the centre of the town in Brandenburg and situated just a few minutes’ drive from the A24 federal motorway, close to the Berlin motorway ring. Fressnapf thus benefits from a strategically advantageous location for supplying over 400 stores in the north and east of Germany as well as across Poland and Scandinavia. The new logistics centre in Neuruppin, where 150 people work, is Fressnapf’s eighth such hub overall in Europe. It will serve as another regional warehouse in future, enabling the store chain to expand its business activities.

Focus on sustainability

Before the construction work commenced, Panattoni stressed its aim of achieving the Platinum Certification of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). DGNB operates a global certification system for sustainable buildings. To reach the high standards of sustainability in the areas of ecology and socio-cultural quality required for this, Panattoni implemented extensive measures in these areas in close consultation with Fressnapf. The measures include a static preliminary setup for a photovoltaic installation and cisterns to store rainwater for service water usage and irrigation of external…
