Pioneering work in the premium market

Since it was established in 2003 Lesa has been working closely with scientists, research institutes and international experts to develop “Goody”, a high-quality pet food containing exclusively natural ingredients. But the route to the end product has not been easy. To make the product competitive in price terms, all the ingredients were to be sourced on the domestic market except for taurine. Since neither a satisfactory basis nor guidelines existed previously in Turkey for the production and export of pet food, Lesa not only had to pioneer the administrative formalities involved but also had to invest a lot of time and care in research. The company spent months working with Turkish suppliers and undertook continuous testing to be able to attain a high quality with regard to the selected ingredients and then guarantee this on an ongoing basis. But Lesa’s conscientious efforts have paid off. When the food passed the tests in France and was tested for its acceptance, the dry dog food achieved an acceptance level of 95 per cent and the cat food a level of 93 per cent. Lesa has already applied to use the American quality label AAFCO. Applications will follow accordingly for the ISO and HACCP standards.

Lesa offers seven varieties in all in its “Goody” range. There are four dry dog food products:
A product for puppies, developed for the higher nutrient and energy requirement of puppies and pregnant or lactating bitches;
A product for fully grown dogs containing high-quality ingredients, developed to give adult dogs a balanced diet;
A product for active dogs, developed for dogs that are very active or are exposed to physical strain;
A product containing lamb and rice, developed for dogs with food allergies and digestion problems.
The range also includes premium dry food for dogs.
Five varieties are available for cats:
For kittens, developed for the higher nutrient and energy requirement of kittens, pregnant cats and lactating cats;
A meat product developed for adult cats, consisting of lamb and beef;
“Gourmet”, a mix of chicken, fish, lamb and beef, developed for fully grown cats;“Fish”, for adult cats;
“Chicken” developed for adult cats.
The “Goody” brand comprises five varieties of cat food.
