Sustainability is being promoted in the international pet industry: The Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC) has been awarded a 75 000 dollar grant from the WPA Good Works programme. The funds will allow the PSC to advance new initiatives such as promoting eco-friendly packaging, responsible ingredient sourcing and educating companies on measurable environmental strategies.

The PSC was founded 11 years ago and now has over 200 members in 18 countries. The organisation is dedicated to making changes that benefit people, pets and the environment. WPA's Good Works programme, which has donated more than 15 mio dollar over the past 15 years and nearly 2 mio dollar annually, is a key partner in advancing this shared vision.

The grant will support  data and research: producing the Sustainability in the Pet Industry 2025 report, which will provide data on consumer trends, retailer behaviour and key sustainability issues; education: hosting webinars and sessions on topics such as greenhouse gas reporting, sustainable packaging and ingredients and anti-greenwashing; toolkit and resources: expanding the free PSC toolkit, which includes resources such as anti-greenwashing guidelines, the How Good ingredients database and the packaging legislation tracker.

Vic Mason, President of the World Pet Association, said: "This grant reflects our belief in the power of collaboration and innovation to create a more sustainable future that benefits the environment, the industry and communities alike.”
