The DIY store and garden centre operator Hornbach substantially increased its sales in fiscal 2022/23. The company announced that net sales of Hornbach Baumarkt AG increased by 6.3 per cent to 5.843 bn euros between 1 March 2022 and 28 February 2023. Sales on a comparable store area and adjusted for currency effects grew by 3.6 per cent. Online sales (including click & collect) declined in the same period, however, by a total of 12.8 per cent to 823 mio euros (previous year: 944 mio euros).
In Germany, net sales including online trading rose by 2.9 per cent to 2.861 bn euros (previous year: 2.78 bn euros). Like-for-like sales grew by 2.4 per cent (previous year: 3.7 per cent). In the eight countries outside Germany, net sales growth including online trading was 9.8 per cent to 2.982 bn euros (previous year: 2.716 bn euros).
The foreign component of the group’s turnover thus increased from 49.4 per cent to 51 per cent. Adjusted for retail area and currency, international sales increased by 4.7 per cent (previous year: 7.3 per cent). The company remains confident going into the new financial year and is continuing to invest in staff, technology and expansion of its store network.
