407 aquariums and 59 terrariums were on display at the Aqua Terra Show 2017, organised by the Zoo Union of Ukraine and the All-Ukrainian Association of Aquarians. The AquaTerra Show (www.aquaterrashow.com.ua) is an event aimed at the pet supplies business with the goal of popularising the modern aquarium and terrarium industry and promoting it to the public at large. Its mission is to attract consumer interest to the aquarium and terrarium segment, the most vulnerable business area of the pet product industry in difficult times. The exhibitors came from Ukraine, Belarus, Russia and Turkey.
Framework programme
A lot of seminars were held: 11 headliners (Ukrainian and foreign) attracted more than 500 listeners over the two days. A number of other activities were included in the programme too:
Aqualighter supported the Ukrainian Betta fan club in organising the 2nd Ukrainian Betta exhibition. The Aquadesign competition with new nano aquariums Fluval Flex was organised by the Suzirja company and Fluval. Alongside this, the main aquascape event was held on the Tetra stand.
The Exo-Show exhibition of exotic species featured these species in stylish and beautiful branded terrariums from Exo Terra. A photo area was located on this stand so that visitors could have their picture taken with interesting, colourful creatures.
The Tropical Discus Show, which is an annual event, presented more than 20 varieties of discus of various colours and forms from the best breeders from all over Ukraine. The traditional sponsor of this event is Tropical. Another well attended show was the Ukrainian guppy and viviparous exhibition. Here the popular bright and colourful fish were showcased on the stand by leading breeders from all over Ukraine in an event sponsored by AquaEl.
Aquarium design
The final of the first all-Ukrainian children's aquarium design competition was held. The aim of the competition was to raise the aesthetic awareness of pupils. A separate exhibition area was allocated, where a variety of different types of aquarium fish and plants bred and grown in Ukraine were demonstrated. The exposition was organised thanks to the support programme for Ukrainian fish farmers and those who grow aquarium plants, with the aim of providing fish farmers with an opportunity to express themselves and demonstrate the quality and range of fish they breed.
