A study carried out by market research company Mintel regarding packaging trends has shown that consumers opt for product packaging that looks different, feels nice or has innovative features. Packaging should stand out from the rival offers on the shelf as well as inspiring consumer confidence. "Our customers want packaging that protects their product and creates added value," explains Albert Klinkhammer, group marketing director at the international paper and packaging manufacturer Mondi.
1. Convenience: The Mondi Easy Open initiative developed a range of innovations to meet the requirements of consumers of all age groups. The product solutions include CornerPack, StripePack, FlexziBox Flat Bottom with various features, ZipperPouch and removable films. Working together with a well-known tea producer, Mondi conceived the ZipperPouch, a reclosable easy-open pouch. SKOG is produced from FSC-certified sack kraft paper from Mondi and provided with an extrusion coating. The laminate keeps food fresh and permits thermosealing. Customers can see the packed product through the window.
4. Brand identity: Customers want packaging that promotes the recognition value of their brand, increases sales and thus augments their market share. Stand-up pouches are growing in popularity on account of their bright colour printing, linear design and ease of handling. Mondi produces laminates and ready-made bags with optional pourers, hot filling capability, reclosing and tear-open features as well as customised pouch shapes. The sack…
