This is the largest number in the show’s 69 year history. It seems that the attending buyers recognize the important role pets play in consumers’ lives and see the category as supplementary to their own basic being, whether as a discounter, big-box retailer or hardlines merchant.
The 69th National Hardware Show (NHS) introduced new categories offering sales opportunities. It has evolved into 15 shows in one, ranging from pet supplies to farm & ranch to energy-efficient products. For the convenience of the buyers, exhibitors were identified into those 15 categories. The show has become truly international, with exhibitors from around the world as well as attracting buyers from everywhere. International registrations exceeded 4 800 and came from 123 countries. Total attendance exceeded 30 000. A prominently identified New Products section made it especially easy for buyers to seek new items. For those looking for low cost products or other new-to-market items, the International Sourcing Area made products from more than 50 countries available.

The chance to review merchandise in an environment without placing orders is refreshing, and the ability to preview products from outside the United States opens our eyes to what is produced globally”, said one retailer. Educational opportunities Working with the North American Retail Hardware Association, NHS offered buyers, as well as vendors, an opportunity to gain industry insights from high-profile speakers including industry professionals. In addition, the educational program featured an extensive line-up of intimate breakout sessions off the show floor, to allow attendees an ability to speak candidly on topics that mattered the most to them.
Next year’s NHS, from 5 to 7 May 2015, will again be held in Las Vegas.
Companies from the pet sector also presented themselves in Las Vegas.
