Despite the worsening global economic environment in 2008, exhibitors still showed great enthusiasm for the CIPS. The Chinese pet trade fair, co-organised by China Great Wall International Exhibition Co. Ltd. and Nurnberg Global Fairs, was held successfully in the Beijing Exhibition Center. There were 268 pet exhibitors, accounting for 56.3 per cent, and 208 aquarium exhibitors, accounting for 43.7 per cent. The show was fully booked even seven months prior to the opening, and the organisers had to build two temporary halls to meet the burgeoning needs of different applicants both at home and abroad. This new phenomenon shows that more and more world brand producers such as Karlie, Ferplast, Tetra, Flexi, Sera, Petgear etc. are exhibiting at the CIPS to promote their brand products. 25 000 visitors The show also attracted nearly 25 000 professional visitors from over 60 countries and regions, including 3 000 overseas buyers from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Holland, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Nigeria, Russia, Thailand, UK, the USA etc. Superb platform Exhibitors and visitors were unanimous in commenting favourably on the four-day show, which provided a superb platform for international trade and also achieved a major breakthrough in promoting domestic trade in China. To better promote the sustainable and healthy development of pet products around the globe, the organisers also convened a summit on the entry-exit inspection and quarantine of Chinese pet food & accessories and the development of import & export trade. The summit attracted hundreds of participants from the pet industry, pet product marketing and the exhibition industry both at home and abroad. Delegates were able to pick up on fresh ideas and the latest information on pet products around the world and learn how to promote their products globally in an effective way.
