35 years of Sera “A special birthday present”

It’s 1960. The enthusiastic aquarist Josef Ravnak catches live food for ornamental fish from ponds and streams and sells it to pet shops. Owner and managing director Josef Ravnak has turned Sera from a one-man operation to a company operating worldwide. The 22-year-old Josef and his wife Anny made roughly DEM 800; ten years later he founded the one-man company Sera. The underlying reason for establishing the company was the introduction of the so-called freeze-drying process, which made it possible to produce dry food and in which careful treatment of the food animals ensured that essential proteins, vitamins and minerals were retained. In addition to this, special birthday triple-sets for aquariums and ponds are on offer, which contain one of the three care products as a free gift. The set for aquariums contains “sera toxivec”, “sera nitrivec” and “sera aqutan”, the latter being included free of charge. The triple-set for ponds correspondingly contains a free bottle of “sera pond algae stop” in addition to “sera pond bio balance” and “sera pond crystal”. Sera fluorescent tubes are now available in a 58 watt version. A further birthday present comes with 1 000 ml packs of “sera Koi Royal” and “sera pond biogranulate” in the shape of an original key ring in an attractive koi design. 10- and 20-litre bags of sera granulate food contain either a red or yellow food scoop. And last but by no means least, the birthday brochure features a competition offering a ten-day Mediterranean cruise for two (value € 3 500) as first prize.
