New management at Royal Canin USA
The US subsidiary of the French pet food manufacturer Royal Canin (RC) has a new management team. In future, management of the US branch will be the province of Stan Howton, alongside Henri Lagarde, overall managing director of the RC group as a whole. Howton will also with immediate effect have responsibility for strategic tasks within the Royal Canin group. Two executive vice-presidents will be engaged in business operations in the USA: Xavier Unikovic is to look after sales and marketing, and Thierry Rambaud is responsible for finance, administration and operations.
Sera competition throughout Europe
The prize competition organised by Sera, the German manufacturer of products for aquarists, on the subject of "Vitamins" has been outstandingly successful all over Europe. In Portugal alone it was a case of determining the winners from many more than 1 000 correct entries. The tempting first prize was a gift voucher worth 1 000 euro. In Bulgaria, too, the Sera competition met with great success here with over 1 500 entries, which is proof of the high level of interest in both fish-keeping itself, and in Sera as well, in south-east Europe. For Sera it was a matter of once more taking on a pioneering role both nationally and internationally, promoting interest in fish-keeping in general, and awakening enthusiasm for this marvellous hobby as well.
Sera's competition was very well received in Portugal.
New for garden ponds
English manufacturers Hozelock Cyprio of Haddenham have still further improved their tried and tested compact pressurised filters. Their "Bioforce" systems are ideal for small ponds of up to 18 000 litres in capacity. The company claims that these filters are almost invisible once installed, guarantee clear pond water and allow the option of running the water from the filter to the top of a waterfall without any additional expense. Starting this year, the UVC lamp in models 1100, 2200 and 4500 will be easy to change from the inside with a bayonet connection. Improvements have been made to the filter medium composition in the three small models. After extensive practical testing Bioforce 4500, for ponds of up to 4 500 litres, has seen a doubling of its lifespan as a result of changes to the filter medium composition. All filters now also have a cleaning indicator.
