“Unfortunately, no buyer could be found for ‘Do it + Garden’ despite intensive efforts”, the Swiss retailer Migros announced in a press release today. The Migros Group announced its decision to focus on its core business at the beginning of February 2024. Despite numerous discussions, no interested party saw the potential to successfully continue the business nationwide, the cooperative explained the move.

Decentralised negotiations with potential buyers from the DIY sector will continue for individual ”Do it + Garden” locations. As previously announced, the ”Do it + Garden” shops in Carouge and Nyon will be transferred to Obi (PET worldwide reported). The remaining 31 stores in total will be closed by the end of June 2025 at the latest, according to the Swiss company. The closures will affect 466 employees.

However, the Micasa sales division, which was also up for sale, will be retained. As part of a management buyout, 30 of the current 38 Micasa and Micasa Home shops will be taken over by Philipp Agustoni, the current CEO of the furniture store brand, and Manuel Landolt, the COO of Migros Fachmarkt AG. In addition, the Migros Cooperative Zurich will not be renewing the franchise agreement with Alnatura.
