Weenect, which claims to be the French market leader in GPS trackers for dogs and cats, has been looking at the market and users of so-called pet tech gadgets. “According to the Expert Market Research Group, the market is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 24 per cent in the next five years,” the company reports. It has seized this as an opportunity to conduct its own study to find out who uses GPS trackers. For the study, users in Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland were surveyed.

The results of the survey reveal that most users (33.4 per cent) are in the 55 to 64 age range, followed by the age group of 45 to 54 years at 23.95 per cent. The proportion of users aged under 25 is modest (1.05 per cent). Most users are also female, with women accounting for 60.65 per cent of users.

“Pet-related technology is becoming a permanent fixture in the everyday life of pet lovers,” states Weenect, summarising the results of the survey.
