Cooperation with award-winning start-up company

Roughly 11 million tons of plastic end up in the sea every year, and this figure could more than double in the decades to come. In the battle against global plastic pollution, the young founders Anne Lamp and Johanna Baare of the Hamburg start-up Traceless Materials have developed a holistically sustainable alternative to plastics and bioplastics. The innovative material, made from plant by-products of the agricultural industry, is completely compostable naturally in a very short time, according to the company. It thus helps to combat global plastic pollution and climate change and supports the move away from fossil resources.

German pet store chain Das Futterhaus is enthusiastic about this idea. It aims to lend its support as a company to the founders of the business and bring the innovation into stores, said managing director Kristof Eggerstedt on LinkedIn. “Our cooperation with Traceless is getting underway with the development of pouches for our unpackaged concept, the popular food bar. Specific plans are in hand for many other ideas for using this ingenious material.”

Apart from Das Futterhaus, another 40 consumer goods manufacturers and around a dozen companies from the plastics industry have expressed interest in the idea of Traceless Materials. Lufthansa and Otto are among the first industry customers to put the granulate produced at the Traceless pilot plant in Buchholz through its paces.
