Vitamin D

Dog food recalls in November 2018

11.12.2018

In November 2018, eight dog foods were recalled because they may have contained excessive levels of Vitamin D. Dogs ingesting elevated levels of Vitamin D may exhibit symptoms such as vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling, and weight loss. Vitamin D, when consumed at very high levels, can lead to serious health issues in dogs including renal dysfunction.
According to a report on PetfoodIndustry.com, ANF, ELM Pet Foods and Nutrisca have recalled dog food for elevated Vitamin D. Sunshine Mills has also expanded its recall of puppy and dog foods, and Lidl and Natural Life Pet Products have recalled dog food over Vitamin D concerns.
