Tesco thinking about exiting eastern Europe

Tesco Plc, which announced the sale of its South Korean business on Monday, is also considering divesting its central and eastern European operations to reduce debt further. While the company is discussing options with advisers, no final decision has been made yet, an insider said.
The business, valued by Sanford C. Bernstein at GBP 1.9 bn (USD 2.9 bn), includes over 1 110 stores that generate GBP 6.45 bn in revenue. Shares in Tesco's Turkish unit rose by as much as 9.3 per cent.
