Pets at Home chairman appointed to head BRC

Luke Mayhew has been appointed chairman of the British Retail Consortium (BRC). Mayhew will succeed former Kingfisher boss Sir Geoff Mulcahy in the post, which he is due to take up on 1st May

Luke Mayhew, chairman of UK’s leading pet retail chain Pets at Home, has been appointed chairman of the British Retail Consortium (BRC). Mayhew will succeed former Kingfisher boss Sir Geoff Mulcahy in the post, which he is due to take up on 1st May. Mayhew is also a non-executive director of stationery retailer WH Smith and Brambles Limited, which owns the pallet pooling business Chep. Previous to this he was chair of fashion retailer Bank Fashion and managing director of John Lewis, a post he held for five years. Mayhew began his career at the Department of Trade and Industry.
