Fressnapf aims to establish 20 stores in all close to or in the centre of Vienna in the next few years. After testing the concept at two locations in the Austrian capital, the company has developed a new city centre concept comprising a two-stage expansion strategy. If this concept should meet with the desired success, it is also expected to be implemented in other locations, including ones outside Austria. On the one hand, Fressnapf wants to create stores close to the city centre with a maximum retail area of 500 m². These stores will retail virtually the entire product range of 10 000 articles. The first branch embodying this concept will open in Vienna on 24th May in premises covering 440 m². Smaller stores of up to 200 m² in size are to be created right in the centre and in the vicinity of pedestrian precincts. The product range in these stores is to be completely realigned. Fressnapf Österreich also intends to open stores in shopping centres in the future, with ten stores envisaged in the medium to long term. Plus City in Pasching, one of the biggest malls in Austria, has been earmarked for the first store, which has a retail area of 450 m² and will open on 14th June.
