Contaminated food: recall notice extended

The American pet food manufacturer Menu Foods, which makes wet food products for Nutro among others, has now extended its recall notice to other production batches, Nutro announced today. Menu Foods originally advised its customers that only products with a date of manufacture between December 2006 and March 2007 were affected. Nutro has therefore decided to withdraw all wet food produced by Menu Foods from the market and is requesting all international distributors to cease deliveries of the affected products and initiate a recall in the trade. Consumers should return the products to their specialist dealers and trading partners should send their stock of Nutro wet food back to their distributor. However, Nutro stresses in the notice that this recall does not affect its dry food products, as these are not manufactured by Menu Foods.
