Fressnapf Austria is continuing to expand, with seven new stores opening in the second half of 2006. The company is focusing on the capital Vienna, where three new outlets are scheduled to open. Further stores are planned for Braunau (Upper Austria), Langenzersdorf (Lower Austria), Vomp (Tyrol) and Klagenfurt (Carinthia). The number of employees is set to increase from 370 at present to 410. Record sales of € 72 mio are expected for the 2006 financial year, an increase of € 19 mio compared with 2005 (€ 53 mio). By the end of 2009 Fressnapf Österreich intends to have 100 stores up and running, with 580 staff in all. “Expansion will continue up to 2009 with ten new openings a year,” said Fressnapf CEO Heidi Obermeier.
