Spanish fair rivalry continues

Contrary to earlier announcements, the Spanish pet show Sizoo in Barcelona will now be staged from 20 to 23 September 2007. It has thus been brought forward by just over a month. This is being seen by industry insiders as a challenge to the rival event Iberzoo in Zaragoza, which will now take place a week after Sizoo. There was rivalry between the two fairs last year, when the new Iberzoo preceded Sizoo by a week. Exhibitors regard the battle between the two shows as highly critical for the development of the Spanish pet supplies sector. Many company representatives have voiced their satisfaction in recent months at discovering that the dates for the two shows were several weeks apart. There was also speculation regarding an imminent agreement between the two shows, but with the decision of Sizoo to change its dates this might now be off the agenda.
