The board of directors of the World Wide Pet Supply Association (WWPSA) has determined that, in response to the needs of the association’s members as well as other representatives of the pet industry, plans for the proposed trade show with consumer day, scheduled for the Georgia World Congress in August 2005, should be put on hold. Despite the fact that the Atlanta show would be a financial success for WWPSA based on exhibitor commitments to date, the board felt compelled to evaluate comments received from members regarding the location and timing of the proposed show in Atlanta. “We believe our decision regarding the show is in the best interests of our industry. As an industry leader, we desire always to be proactive, to listen carefully and respond positively to the needs of our members,” stated Doug Poindexter, executive vice president of WWPSA. Last year, following the highly successful SuperZoo West 2004, exhibitors and attendees expressed their desire to have a show venue that provided a more convenient and effective floor plan than that presented at the Las Vegas Convention Center. WWPSA immediately went into action to locate a preferred show site and chose the Mandalay Bay Resort as the venue for SuperZoo West 2005, September 21 and 22. The positive response from exhibitors and attendees was overwhelming and fortified the association’s dedication to meeting the needs of the industry.
