Lily’s Kitchen has been part of Nestlé Purina Petcare since April 2020 and is considered the UK market leader in natural premium pet food. The company was a founding member of B Corp certification (Benefit Corporation) in 2006 and became the first pet food brand to become B Corp certified in 2015. At the last audit in 2022, Lily’s Kitchen scored 92.3 Impact Points. The median value of all companies audited is currently 50.9 points.
B Corp certification is awarded by the non-profit organisation B Lab. Companies receiving this certification use their financial power in a unique way to find solutions to social and environmental problems. To become certified as a B Corp, companies must achieve an Impact Score of at least 80 points.
Assuming responsibility
Each year, Lily’s Kitchen donates at least 50 000 meals to cats and dogs in need. In Germany, for example, it has been supporting the animal shelter in Nuremberg for a year and has already donated 5 000 products to the association. Furthermore, the company had set itself the goal of making its packaging fully recyclable by 2025. This goal has already been attained: “With effect from this year, all newly produced packaging is 100 per cent recyclable,” reports Lily’s Kitchen.
“We are conscious of our special responsibility to all pets, but also to their owners, our staff and our planet,” emphasises Sophie Bryson, international brand manager. The decisions taken in the company always take account of the common good and ecological sustainability.
In addition, every employee of Lily’s Kitchen can utilise four days of paid employment to volunteer, whether in the local pet shelter or in another charitable organisation close to their heart. In 2022, the company’s staff spent a total of 952 hours working for charitable purposes in this way.
