Vitor Hugo Quaresma, owner of a Discus farm in Santarém, Brazil, has been familiar with Tropical foods for a long time, but he does not hide his surprise at the reaction of fish to Tropical Gel Formula after just the first feeding:
"The new gel formula was a real surprise," he admits. "As we know, it is difficult to feed Wild Discus any artificial food after collecting and taking them out of their natural environment. When we were testing the new Tropical Gel Formula food, the fish had already been used to Tropical granules and flakes. Yet, they were facing new food with totally different characteristics: consistency, smell, etc. We did not believe their behaviour when they were eating this food for the first time. The Gel Formula line is composed of innovative fish food in the form of gel, and its uniqueness lies in the fact that it is the aquarist who decides on the form of feeding. How does it work? The method of preparing the jelly permits an individual choice of the size and shape of the food, thanks to which it can be served to fish in many ways: hung on a string, stuck to the aquarium glass on a suction cup, spread on a stone or laid on the bottom of the aquarium, cut into strips and even grated. And these are not the only options. The food may also be prepared in the form of sinking or floating jelly, which satisfies the needs of fish feeding both near the water surface and at the bottom of the aquarium. The food in the form of jelly can be frozen for use later, constituting a great alternative to ready-made frozen foods.
The main marketing idea behind the Gel Formula food line is the Do It Yourself concept. The trend has been very popular in many areas of life for quite some time. "The Gel Formula proves that even aquarium foods can be part of the concept," says Renata Góral, Tropical marketing manager. "The Gel Formula offers aquarists many possibilities and allows them to create their own food exactly the way they want it. The preparation of food is extremely interesting and gives a lot of satisfaction in creating individual, original solutions. It is simply great fun."
