The daytime lighting range is manufactured by Waltron. The company was founded back in 1991 and specialised initially in aluminium covers equipped with T5 light bars for aquariums. It added the daytime brand to its product assortment in 2010. Nearly all the components in the light bars are produced and finished by a workforce of 18 people at the company's headquarters in Warmsen, not far from Hannover.
Individuality is the key
"We offer maximum flexibility through customisation and so we can supply individual lighting for individual aquariums," says Uwe Saathoff, the company's commercial manager. Production is carried out only by order of specialist retailers and dispatched within ten days. To be able maintain its flexibility, LED-light production starts immediately after receiving the order from the retailer. Sales are transacted exclusively via specialist retailers, while end consumers are looked after and advised by a team from Waltron. Order quantities starting from just one item can be delivered and even configurations that are individually customised in respect of length and number of lighting units are possible. "Our product development and improvement is a continuous process based on the requirements and wishes of the consumers," stresses Uwe Saathoff. Participation in numerous B2B and B2C fairs has proved an important instrument for building up and maintaining contacts with aquarium enthusiasts.
Wide range
Three light series - matrix, eco, cluster/cluster control - are currently offered for sale. One feature common to all light bars is that they can be fitted with seven different basic light colours and freely combined. The "daytime eco" bars are fitted at the factory, the "daytime cluster" series is fitted either at the factory or by the retailer and the "daytime matrix" line can even be modified by aquarists themselves.
Light lengths from 10 to 200 centimetres are possible, and lengths exceeding this can also be supplied in the "daytime matrix" series. Controllers and dimmers are also available for all "daytime" light series along with options for connection to controllers from other suppliers and countless accessories for installing the lights above open and closed aquariums. "Individual assembly makes it possible to configure the light bars for freshwater and marine aquariums," says Uwe Saathoff.
