The German aquarium company Tropical Heimtierbedarf is taking over the ailing company Waltron with the LED brand Daytime. This was announced by insolvency administrator Dr. Christian Kaufmann in a press release. The restructuring expert from Pluta Rechtsanwalts GmbH sold the business operations of the lighting system manufacturer, which had been in insolvency proceedings since July 2024, to Tropical with effect from October 1.

“In less than three months, we were able to quickly find an investor solution thanks to the excellent cooperation of all parties involved,” explained lawyer Kaufmann. “I am particularly pleased that business operations at the Warmsen site will be maintained and that all 13 employees have been taken on.” The creditors can also expect an above-average dividend.

The owner-managed company Waltron was founded in 1991 and produces modern lights with various technologies, paying attention to sustainability, maximum energy efficiency and the highest quality standards in line with the Made in Germany philosophy. In 2012, the first LED lighting systems of the brand Daytime for aquariums, Worktime for industrial applications and Growtime for the cultivation of ornamental and useful plants were created.

“With the acquisition of Waltron we are expanding our portfolio in a targeted manner,” says Managing Director Michael Degen, pleased with the acquisition. “Like us, Waltron attaches great importance to sustainability, and the Daytime LED lighting system fits perfectly into our pet supplies department.”

Tropical was founded in 2004 and is a subsidiary of Tropical Poland Tadeusz Ogrodnik, which has been active in the aquarium and pet supplies market since 1977. The company supplies the German, Austrian, Swiss and Benelux markets from Germany. The other countries are served from Poland.
