Anido, PATS, Global Pet Expo, InterPets - it's a never-ending round of pet product trade shows this year. However, the highlight is yet to come at the end of May. Soon it will be Interzoo time again, and representatives of the pet supplies sector from all over the world will be heading for Nuremberg to showcase their products and make new contacts.
Interzoo is benefiting from the unstoppable advancing globalisation of the pet product market. Over 80 per cent of the 1 800 or so exhibitors expected at the world-leading fair originate from outside the host country Germany. There is a significant increase in the applications for stand area from many countries in Europe as well as from the USA, Brazil and Japan.
Nowadays everyone talks to everyone else in the pet sector, with even small suppliers boasting contacts scattered across the globe. An exchange of information is in full swing between the different continents, and trends emerging in one country often spread like wildfire to the rest of the world. The Internet drives global communication; thanks to Google, Twitter and Facebook, information travels fast in the global village.

Is the international pet industry in crisis? Or is crisis just around the corner? And if there is a crisis, how should it be assessed: just a minor temporary setback …
Some people say that Interzoo has grown too big and stressful. Be that as it may, the range of products on show in Nuremberg is unlike any other to be found in the world. And Interzoo isn't just about chasing through the halls looking out for new products. Interzoo is also fun: it's where people meet business partners with whom they normally only communicate by telephone or e-mail. It's about having the opportunity to get together with contacts for a while at the countless stand parties and toast one another with a glass of wine, away from the annual discussions and contract negotiations.
