Strong in private label

Damolin’s origins date back to 1942, when the company was established under the name Dansk Moler Industri A/S. At that time it concentrated primarily on the production of raw, dried and calcined moler, which was extracted from various mines on the islands of Fur and Mors in the north of Denmark and processed in the company’s plants.
The product portfolio was widened over time by the addition of complementary products. In 1983, Damolin expanded into the cat litter business, which now accounts for roughly half of its overall sales. Apart from cat litter, the company manufactures oil and chemical absorbents as well as powdered and granulated products for a host of industrial applications.
Damolin’s development into a leading European supplier of cat litter is closely related to the growing commercial demand for private label products. Non-clumping products account for 60 per cent of the overall tonnage, with the other 40 per cent being covered by clumping litters. Each type accounts for half of sales.

The company is favourably positioned in the market with a complete range of lightweight, clumping and organic cat litter products. This enables Damolin to react flexibly to the individual wishes and requirements of its business clients. Since it can meet customer requirements in all price categories, the manufacturer is of interest both to the supermarkets and pet supplies retailers. An added advantage is that Damolin can also accommodate its customers’ wishes with regard to the choice of packaging.
Its own brands
As well as private label products, Damolin has its own brand, Avancat, for the pet supplies trade. This comprises non-clumping, clumping and organic litter products. The company also has the Amigo brand of smaller, practical packs that likewise cover a broad range of various litter types.
Damolin has several production facilities in Europe. The latest addition to these is in Germany, where it opened a production plant in Oberhausen in 2012. The sales office previously located in Mettmann was also relocated to Oberhausen. The opening of the new production plant coincided with the renaming of Damolin Mettmann GmbH as Damolin GmbH.
