According to the organiser, Nürnberg Messe Brazil, Pet South America is expected to grow further this year and offer visitors new business opportunities, relationships with customers, retailers and veterinarians and the dissemination of services and products. “We have over 200 exhibitors demonstrating new products for the pet marketplace. Regarding the numbers of visitors, we expect to surpass the 20 000 professionals present at the trade fair last year,” says Nürnberg Messe Brazil. Being organised in parallel with the Pet South America exhibition this year for the first time is the Veterinary Specialties Congress (Congresso de Especialidades). The congress is to feature key professional and academic figures from the pet industry to debate 28 veterinary categories from acupuncture to contagious diseases. The various talks at the event will be given by a total of 280 speakers, including specialists and scientists of international repute. Promoted in partnership with SPMV (Sociedade Paulista de Médicos Veterinários) and Anclivepa-SP (Associação de Clínicos Veterinários de Pequenos Animais), the Congress should unite the traditional CONPAVEPA (Congresso Paulista de Clínicos Veterinários de Pequenos Animais) and CONPAVET (Congresso Paulista de Medicina Veterinária). “From 18-20 October we expect around 2 000 vets to attend. Besides the Congress, there’ll be a seminar for pet shop owners as well,” emphasises the organiser. Pet health care drives sales Apart from the veterinarians’ congress, the Pet South America show will offer the latest information about exciting new products in the pet health care, food, beauty and accessories categories, especially for dogs and cats. The focus on the pet health care sector is easy to explain, because this is the sector of the Brazilian pet industry that is generating growing sales. “In 2009 alone, Brazilian families spent 696 mio Brazilian reals (€ 314 mio) on veterinary appointments, medicines and vaccines for their pets. This amount is equi-valent to the annual revenue of major private hospitals in the country,” says Nürnberg Messe Brazil. Download: Pet branch meets in Sao Paulo (PDF file)
