Wyevale’s sales on a roller-coaster
The leading British garden centre operator and market leader Wyevale has taken over Jack’s Patch Garden Centre which used to be operated by Great Park Nurseries in Devon. The covered sales area spans about 3,400 m² (36,584 sq ft). Wyevale acquired another garden centre at Carr Gate, Wakefield, in April this year.
The group experienced roller-coaster sales in the first six months of trading. 
Overall figures were down in comparison to the previous year by 1.9 per cent by volume to  £108.2 million (€ 161.7 million) and 1.7 per cent by area. Sales rose during January and February by 7.3 per cent over the same area, but March saw a 31 per cent slump compared with the strong March of the previous year. Both April (3.8 per cent) and May (16.6 per cent) were good months. However, June sales saw a 7 per cent downturn by area.

Meiko in West Switzerland
The Swiss trading company Meiko is now represented with a subsidiary in western Switzerland. The fifth subsidiary was opened at Vuadens near Bulle in the region Freiburgerland, it has a retail area of about 200 m² (2,152 sq ft) and its own car parking spaces in front of the store. Directly connected with the Meiko business is a dog salon managed by Patrice Quartenoud and operated under the name “ICE Univers du Chien et du Chat“.
Change at Royal Canin
Henri Lagarde, president and CEO of the Royal Canin group, has retired on 30th of June this year. Since then, he has been the honorary life chairman of the group. Under his management from 1994 to 2004, Royal Canin developed into a leading international pet food manufacturer. Alain Guillemin, the current general manager of the company, will be the successor of Henri Lagarde, and managing director and CEO. Alain Guillemin joined the Royal Canin group in 1999.  Prior to that, he held leading positions in various companies, such as Thomson, Electrolux Europe and Soprat-Pere Dodu.
Hornbach in Slovakia
Hornbach-Baumarkt SK has opened their first combined DIY and garden centre at the beginning of August in Bratislava-RuŠzinov, in Slovakia. With a weighted sales area of 15.796 m² (169,965 sq ft) it is currently the largest site of the company in the whole of Europe.  Over  € 18 million (£12 million) were invested in the store.
