Interzoo opens its doors in Nuremberg from 13-16 May.One of the characteristics of this trade fair is its concentration on pet requisites, with a considerable breadth of range that reflects the global pet product market. Most exhibitors, 28 per cent in all according to the fair organizers, deal in products for dogs and cats. The second-biggest segment is aquariums (16.5 per cent), while 13.5 per cent of suppliers are presenting products for small animals and rodents, 11 per cent products for ornamental birds, 9 per cent articles for animals in the garden and 8 per cent terrarium products. Other exhibitor categories include complementary products for the speciality pet trade such as equestrian sports products or boutique items, specialist literature and multimedia, shopfitting and packaging, pet food production and miscellaneous items.

Strict guidelines apply to exhibitors of pets, and the organizers have pointed out that unregistered presentations and presentations that do not meet the stipulated conditions could be prohibited during the show. For example, tethered parrots, the presentation of ornamental fish in column and wall-mounted aquariums and displaying reptiles in very small terrariums will not be permitted.
Importance is being attached to the leisure side of the show as well as the work element, and so all visitors and exhibitors at Interzoo are invited to a magical evening on Saturday 15 May. The party will get going in Hall 8 immediately the fair closes and guests will be treated to fiery illusions and mysterious magic displays. Entertainment will be provided by Shoana the fortune-teller, the rocking Tuxedo Dance Band, the marching band Brass up and oldie group The Barons.
