Around ten years ago, Maple Lodge Farms decided to go into the pet food industry – a successful move, as this segment now accounts for 15 per cent of the company’s overall sales. The “Nutram” product line offers a full range of complete foods spanning the various stages in the lives of dogs and cats. The brand has also built up a good reputation outside Canada, with products now being supplied to 26 different countries worldwide. The Canadian company has achieved success above all in Europe and South Africa. It has its own distributors for France, the Czech Republic and recently also for Germany and Austria. Exports now account for 35 per cent of production.
The cat food products
Nutram Pet Products only uses fresh poultry from the company’s own plant, which is subject to inspection by the competent federal authorities, together with high-quality ingredients specially combined with vitamins and mineral chelate. Fresh, high-grade poultry fat with lecithin should guarantee pets the optimum source of energy, and the raw protein content is 100 per cent chicken. No soya, wheat or beef is used.
