The UK store chain Jollyes has reported that the company achieved its best first-quarter results to date in the 13 weeks to 27 August. According to the report, its overall sales for the first quarter of fiscal 2024 came to GBP 33.7 mio (approx. 39.26 mio euros), equivalent to an increase of 33.6 per cent compared with the same period in the previous year (GBP 25.3 mio; approx. 29.48 mio euros). Like-for-like sales were reported to be 23.1 per cent.

In the quarter under review, Jollyes opened three new stores in Swindon, Belfast (Boucher Road) and Merthyr Tydfil, bringing the total number of Jollyes branches to 93. In the last two years, Jollyes has added 26 stores to its inventory, amounting to an increase of almost 40 per cent. The company intends to step up its programme of openings with another ten new stores up to the end of the financial year in May 2024, meaning that the store chain would surpass the 100-branch mark much earlier than planned.

Openings scheduled for the rest of the calendar year include Harrogate and Widnes (both at the end of September), Swadlincote (end of October) and Reading and Hull (end of November). In the first half of 2024, Jollyes also aims to open other stores in North and South Yorkshire, Tyneside, Bristol, South Wales, Northern Ireland and Central Scotland.
