Mars has announced that it has reached agreement with the Synlab Group regarding acquisition of the assets of Synlab Vet, a European supplier of veterinary medicine laboratory diagnostics. Once the deal goes through, Synlab Vet will become part of Mars Petcare. The takeover is subject to the usual regulatory approvals.
To supplement its global full service offering for veterinary diagnostics in the fields of veterinary laboratories, point of care, imaging and software, the Science & Diagnostics division of Mars Petcare aims to expand its veterinary laboratory business in Europe with this acquisition.
Nefertiti Greene, president of Mars Science & Diagnostics, commented: “We are convinced that excellence in veterinary diagnostics and advanced technologies will transform veterinary care. We are therefore delighted to welcome Synlab Vet to the Mars Petcare family.” The acquisition will complement the existing diagnostic business of Mars and extend its scope in Europe.
