In Madrid alone, 6 340 pets have been adopted in the last year. The figure is made up of 3 138 dogs and 3 202 cats. Spanish pet store chain Kiwoko is participating in the new campaign "Conóceme y Adóptame" (English: Know me and adopt me) and is now promoting the campaign in its store in the Madrid suburb of Velázquez.
The initiative aims to raise awareness of adoption of homeless pets and is intended to encourage people to visit animal shelters and get to know the pets there. The scheme will run until 16 April.
