After a construction period lasting 13 months, a new logistics centre for Europe’s leading pet supplies online-retailer Zooplus has now commenced operation close to Budapest. The 41 000 m² centre was completed in two stages by the Fiege Group, which is based in Münsterland and will have responsibility in Hungary for all services for Zooplus ranging from receiving goods, quality checks, storage and order picking, packaging and preparation for dispatch to handover of the goods to courier services.

By the end of 2024, the number of employees at the logistics centre is expected to increase from 220 at present to over 500, according to the logistics firm. The Fiege Group already operates a second logistics centre for Zooplus in Italy.

Now in its fifth generation as a family-owned company, the Fiege Group employs more than 23 000 people at 133 sites in 16 countries. Its most recent turnover was put at 1.8 bn euros.
