With around 28 000 trade visitors from 129 countries, Interzoo in Nuremberg celebrated a brilliant comeback. Despite difficult general conditions, the organiser of the world's leading pet supplies fair WZF succeeded in offering the pet industry a great platform where personal business contacts were possible again. The mood among exhibitors and visitors was correspondingly good on the four days of the fair. 1 329 exhibitors from 59 countries, and thus even more than forecast, were represented at Interzoo with their own stands.
Interzoo is also likely to be a powerful motivational boost for many industry players after the problems surrounding supply chains, price adjustments and shortages of raw materials had severely frayed the nerves of many in recent months. Many exhibitors, according to WZF, praised the high quality of the trade visitors and are going home with full contact lists to turn the connections they made here into future business."
On Friday, the last day of the fair, a jury of experts chose the best innovative ideas on stage as part of the first Interzoo Fresh Ideas Contest. First place was won by Prombyx from Germany with the recycling of by-products from silk production as an alternative source of protein, Sustainable People, also from Germany, established themselves in second place with biodegradable dog excrement bags and Protenga from Singapore followed in third place with sustainably produced insect protein.
