“This year’s record number of competitors demonstrated the groomers’ zest for excellence, within a lively atmosphere,” said Janet Nunn, chief executive of the Pet Care Trust, which organised the event. It was wagging tails all round at the British Dog Grooming Championship in October, with over 400 people and 75 dogs attending. Tracy Ansell took the coveted title of Groomer of the Year. She won the Experienced Hand Strip and Clipped Gundogs class, the Experienced Standard Poodle class, and the Richard Barker Cup for the best overall poodle. The competition was the biggest ever and included the first ever Junior Competition for 6-24 year olds, which was won by Emily Mulholland. Emma Smith took the Student and Newcomer top prize and Joanne Botwood won the Advanced Group.
