Fressnapf Österreich achieved a new record sales figure of € 89.6 mio in 2008. Operating profits increased by 12 per cent over the previous year’s figure of € 80 mio, according to the retail chain. The expansion of Fressnapf is set to continue in 2009 with the opening of ten new stores. An increase in the workforce is also expected: 60 new staff are being taken on, bringing the total number of employees to 575. Particular attention is to be paid to implementing the city centre concept already in operation in Vienna. The first city centre store in Innsbruck was recently opened, and further stores are expected to follow in the state capitals. In the first quarter of 2009, Fressnapf Österreich intends to open city centre outlets in Klagenfurt and in two locations in Vienna.
