Fressnapf expanded its operations across Europe in the first quarter
In the first quarter of 2007, Fressnapf opened a total of 15 new stores, nine of them in Germany. The new stores bring the number of Fressnapf outlets in Germany and ten other European countries to 844 in all. Following on from the new Fressnapf store in Niederkassel (North Rhine-Westphalia), the first Mega-Zoo opened its doors in mid-February in Berlin-Waltersdorf. Two further stores also opened in February, in Kassel (Hesse) and Göttingen (Lower Saxony). On 1st March, a new Fressnapf opened in Wildeshausen (Lower Saxony), followed by further stores in Ratingen, Emsdetten (both in North Rhine-Westphalia), Penzberg (Bavaria) and Schwarzenbek (Schleswig-Holstein). In Denmark two new Maxi-Zoos opened, in Köge and Aalborg. And in Bourg-les-Valence, France’s 14th Maxi-Zoo store was launched. The other three new outlets were in the Swiss town of Vernier, close to Geneva, in San Donà di Piave in northern Italy and in Braunau, Austria.
