Road safety for pet and owner A new range of safety products has been developed by British company Sinclair Animal & Household Care under its "Canac" brand. The range of flashing leads and collars has been developed to provide high visibility for both dog and owner when out walking at night or in poor light. The matching leads and collars comprise not only micro LED lights on a flexible metal conducting strip, which is then encapsulated in a waterproof casing, but also an integral reflective strip running along its length. Available in red, blue and black, the one-metre leads with padded handle are available in three widths and matching collars are available in the same widths and three different lengths to suit all sizes of dog. The shampoos have a high lathering formula which allows soap suds to be seen easily and therefore washed out of the coat, preventing any residue being left in the coat and ensuring a shiny finish. The shampoos are highly concentrated - so a little goes a long way, but despite this each formulation is kind, gentle and non-irritant to both pet's and owner's skin. "No.1" is based on full-cream goat's milk powder, instead of on skimmed cow's milk. The goat's milk is not skimmed, and therefore the fat in it consists mainly of very easy to digest goat's milk fat. The protein in goat's milk has a much finer structure than the protein in cow's milk which also makes "No.1" a lot easier to digest. Goat's milk contains several substances that stimulate and protect the intestines. All this together makes "No.1" very mild on the not entirely developed digestive system of newly born puppies and other newly born mammals like kittens, rabbits, rats, chinchillas, hedgehogs, bats, mice, squirrels, etc. "No. 1" is available in 0.5, 1.5 and 3 kg barrels. According to the company, its unusual design and the bright bowls with a glitter effect create a unique product. "Merlino" was designed to provide a living area for hamsters that lends optimum support to the interplay between pet and human. This aim has been achieved by the transparent dome, which can be removed for easy cleaning. The cage measures 56x36.5x41 cm. www.feberplast.com Pouch that offers the advantage of freshness The Austrian company Mondi Packaging Flexibles offers packaging solutions for pet food: barrier-coated films, coated cartons, reclosable paper and plastic bags and a wide range of flexible pouches. In one of Mondi's product information releases, the company points to the stand-up pouch as the packaging solution of the future for moist food. Stand-up pouches are composed of plastic and aluminium laminates. They are extremely durable, both chemically and physically, and come with reclosable openings, pourers and laser perforations. Mondi Packaging highlights the reclosability of the pouches in particular, a feature that guarantees hygienic storage, keeping the product fresh and retaining its full aroma. The pet food supplied in these pouches is also reported to be healthier than conventional canned food, as the core temperature is reached more quickly in the sterilisation process. Gentler treatment of the food ensures that important vitamins, minerals and the flavour are retained. And a reduction in weight of more than 60 per cent compared with tins makes the packages easier to handle for consumers and cuts transport costs for the manufacturer. In addition to slow-release iron, the tabs are enriched with a complex of essential minerals and trace elements. The active ingredients are released slowly and in a measured dose into the water as well as being precisely coordinated to one another and supplying all plants with the optimum amount to meet their needs. The tabs are free of nitrate and phosphate and thus do not promote algae growth. Just place them close to the plant roots or directly into the plant basket, then renew the dose roughly every eight weeks. One tab will suffice for 500 l of water. The food comes in three recipes optimally coordinated to the feeding requirements of the koi: "Koi Excellence Complete" for daily feeding, a biologically balanced main food for good condition and natural colour splendour. Its easy digestibility and the availability of the nutrients ensure optimum feeding of the koi and little water pollution. "Koi Excellence Wheatgerm" is a food formulated with the reduced metabolic activity of koi at cooler water temperatures in mind. It has a high content of wheatgerm and ballast materials. "Koi Excellence Performance" is aimed at the particularly discerning koi enthusiast for daily feeding at water temperatures above 10° C. The recipe is designed to increase growth and colouring, as well as build up strength prior to and after overwintering. The proteins are easily digestible and are optimally converted into body mass. All three recipes also contain the patented "BioActive" formula for the active improvement of bodily functions and demonstrable strengthening of the koi's resistance levels.
