American supplier develops GPS tracking for dogs

The American company GlobalPetFinder is marketing a collar that enables a dog owner to locate his pet via coordinates transmitted by GPS. The collar has its own cell phone number. If the owner dials this, the dog’s coordinates are ascertained by the Global Positioning System via satellite and transmitted via the GSM radio module. The owner then receives an SMS from the dog’s location. It is also possible to program a virtual boundary; if the dog wanders beyond this, the GPS module alerts the owner via SMS.
