More growth for Hornbach abroad

The German DIY retailer recorded sales 4.1 per cent up in like-for-like terms between March and August

The German DIY retailer Hornbach completed the first half of the current financial year (March to August 2004) with like-for-like sales up 4.1 per cent over the previous year’s result. The rate of increase came to 3.1 per cent in Germany, whereas the stores abroad saw growth of 6.3 per cent. These figures were quoted by Albrecht and Steffen Hornbach, chairmen of the holding company and Baumarkt AG respectively, at their joint annual meeting. The Hornbach stores in Germany grew like-for-like sales by 5.1 per cent in the period between January and June.
