The natural Sparrow products with hemp from Firstswissventures have a positive effect on animal health. Products containing cannabidiol (CBD) are growing in popularity all the time. A natural constituent of the hemp plant, CBD has attracted considerable attention. "CBD is one of many natural constituents of hemp. It does not trigger any psychoactive effects and is thus not an intoxicant," explains Daniel Waser, coproprietor and board member at Firstswissventures, who was the main initiator of the products.
The positive impact of CBD cannot be realised in isolation, however; other natural constituents such as THC, CBDA, CBN, CBD etc. are required for this. Together they give rise to the so-called "entourage effect", which is known to produce beneficial effects and enhance quality of life. "Only the entire hemp plant with all its constituents is used in all Sparrow products," Daniel Waser continues.
A powerful superfood
Hemp is regarded as one of the oldest and most versatile useful and medicinal plants. Due to its many positive attributes, it has always been used as a so-called superfood. "We believe hemp to be today's pet superfood for supporting natural, holistic pet health. Hemp seeds, for example, are not only rich in proteins but also contain a cornucopia of nutrients and vital substances that prevent diseases from developing and are able to slow down the body's natural ageing processes," says Daniel Waser.

In addition, hemp contains all eight essential amino acids, which are indispensable for healthy growth. Cannabinoids such as CBD, CBDA etc., which occur naturally in hemp, can also interact with the body, since all vertebrates have a natural endocannabinoid system. "This interaction contributes to a host of positive effects on animal health, as many animals have difficulty in producing enough cannabinoids of their own. Hemp offers us an opportunity to help them in this and thereby enhance their quality of life," states Daniel Waser.
