Welcoming 1 387 exhibitors from 24 countries and more than 80 000 visitors from over 90 countries to a show floor covering 130 000 m², the CIPS in Shanghai underlined its significance as a global meeting point for the pet supplies sector. Compared with the previous year (60 408), visitor numbers were up by a massive 32 per cent.
China and Asia are regarded as one of the most attractive consumer markets for the pet sector. The CIPS also highlighted trends in the industry, confirming that "the future of pet food is moving towards healthier nutrition, accessories will feature more functional, smarter and more fashionable designs. Everything is becoming more individual and is geared more than ever to the generation of the millennials." This was the verdict given in a press release by the show's organisers.

Internationality at the heart of the show

The visitors to CIPS 2019 came chiefly from all parts of China, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, South America and Africa. Other important countries in terms of visitors were Korea, the USA, Japan, Russia, Great Britain, Germany, Thailand, Australia, Malaysia and Indonesia. In light of this it is not surprising that sector experts call the show the most important procurement platform for the global pet supplies industry.
The total number of international brands exhibited at CIPS 2019 accounted for a share of 33.7 per cent. These were brought to the show either by foreign exhibitors or by their representatives in China. New exhibitors presented their goods primarily in country pavilions, with most of these coming from Great Britain, Canada, Korea, India and Italy.
"We were really satisfied with CIPS 2019 - it was the best exhibition that we have attended for a number of years. We will be back again next year," was the quote from John Walgate, managing director of the British company Vitalin.

Competent events programme

Once again, the fair's accompany-ing programme of events was extensive. It included the 7th China Pet Distributors & E-Commerce Conference, the 6th New Product Showcase and Fashion Show, the 4th Global Ornamental Fish Championship, the 3rd CIPS Innovation Award and the 3rd China Pet Store Owners Forum. The CIPS Global Grooming Conference and the China International Pet Food Forum were also premiered at the show.
