Long Paws was started by Elan Mansur in 2011 as a UK-based pet accessory distributor. The company secured the sole distribution rights for a number of US- and European-based brands, and after a few years of working with these brands, the Long Paws team decided it was time for a change.
"Have you ever felt that everything you find for your pet looks the same as the last time you looked? That's how we felt, which is why we launched Long Paws. We simply got tired of hearing phrases like 'It's good enough' and even more tired of being told we were being too fussy," says Elan Mansur. The Long Paws team felt they wanted to be able to offer higher quality to their customers, and be able to safely guarantee the products they sell. This led to the company designing its own range of products, at a quality level not often seen in the pet sector. Long Paws is now first and foremost an outdoor pet accessory brand for active pets and their owners.

Distributor network

Long Paws started developing its own product lines and focusing on developing the Long Paws brand both in the UK and internationally. Over the past three years, Long Paws has added raincoats, collars, leads, harnesses, tags and a tick remover to its line of pet water bottles: "We¹ve stuck to our guns and maintained our focus of offering outdoor gear for active pets and their owners." According to Elan Mansur, they will be keeping a few of the third-party brands in the company's stable of products, as they offer something different and unique to Long Paws' wholesale collection.  But what Long Paws has been really focusing on is expanding its brand through its distributor network. So far distribution has been primarily in Europe, but according to Elan Mansur, they're expecting more news in the coming weeks.

An interesting growth area

While producing its product lines, Long Paws has been developing working relationships with its selected factories. In addition to producing its own range, the company has managed to leverage off these relationships to develop custom products for a number of other companies who wanted to offer accessories to their customers. "This has been an interesting growth area for us, somewhat unexpected, but very productive," explains Elan Mansur.
