The Plaček Group has acquired a share of a former competitor in Czechia. The company, a leading retailer and wholesaler in central and eastern Europe, has bought a minority share in the Czech pet store chain Akvazoo, which has thus joined the Plaček Group. Akvazoo operates 15 outlets and is the fourth biggest player in the Czech pet supplies trade.

Mega store in Riga
In May, Plaček achieved another coup by opening its first mega store, Dino Zoo Pasaule, in Latvia's capital Riga. The new store covers a retail area of 3 000 m2 and is a complex that includes a pet store, a vet pharmacy, a boutique and a grooming area. Part of the complex is an exhibition hall, which can be used to organise dog and cat shows and training events. The mega store has been very well received: on the day of opening it was so busy that a 30-metre queue built up at the tills. According to the Plaček Group, the store has the widest range of products and animal livestock in Latvia, including tropical fish, exotic birds, small animals and terrarium animals.
A huge product range is presented in modern goods display fittings.
