50 years of Ferplast

Fifty years ago Ferplast was founded by the man who is still its president, Carlo Vaccari, and his sister Caterina, now the vice-president. Both are a fine example of Italian business prowess. 
Inventiveness, determination, a desire to achieve and plenty of sacrifices are the ingredients that make up its remarkable story, according to Ferplast. The story began in a basement with the construction of bird cages by hand and has advanced to the industrial production of some 4 000 items for the comfort of all kinds of pets. 

Originally established as a typical handicraft firm in the north-east of Italy, Ferplast now numbers approximately 1 000 employees, exports to no less than 85 countries on five continents and has three production sites in Italy, Slovakia and Ukraine. The logistical structure comprises 12 trading branches (Italy, France, Germany, Holland, the UK, Poland, Ukraine, Slovakia, Russia, China, South America and USA) as well as 90 agents and 120 international partners who swiftly supply the network of specialised pet shops, garden centres, DIY stores and large distribution channels of each country where the brand is on sale. 
But the real strength of the company is and remains the product: Ferplast today regards itself as synonymous with quality, technology and design. This is the result of significant investment in research and development, the desire to always offer the best for a pet's comfort, often ahead of future trends and fashions, and to find innovative, technologically advanced solutions that can meet all the needs of consumers.

Not only trends but also every aspect of the production cycle is carefully monitored in order to keep quality standards the highest in the sector. Each year Ferplast production plants use over 2 600 tons of raw metals and approximately 5 300 tons of plastics as well as leather, wood and various fabrics from Italian and international suppliers. Each consignment is carefully checked before being stored in the warehouses. In addition, Ferplast directly produces approximately 90 per cent of the articles that make up its supply.
