The figure given by fair organiser Nürnbergmesse Brasil was precisely 20 878 visitors, just over 3 000 fewer than at the previous year's event (24 117). The proportion of vets alone among the visitors increased by 30.4 per cent. 77 per cent of all visitors were described by the organisers in the closing report as professional buyers and decision makers. 320 exhibitors presented international brands from the food, health, beauty, grooming and accessories segments.
Educational programme
A focal point for the visitors was the accompanying programme of events, the objective of which was to recognise the potential offered by the Brazilian market in various categories and to be able to exploit this. For example, the first Congress University was organised by Andipet, the national association of pet product retailers. At a special event, Anhembi Morumbi University also presented its canine dummies, which aid in the training of veterinary surgeons without inflicting pain on any animals.
The so-called Professional Enhancement Circuit made its debut at the show. This tour gave visitors the opportunity to gain an insight into the entire pet product manufacturing chain, attend educational talks and find out more about the latest trends and solutions for products and services in the pet and veterinary sector. The visitors embraced the programme of events offered, with over 1 000 delegates from various spheres of veterinary medicine and animal breeding taking part in the Paulista Specialities Congress, for example.
"Pet South America has thus consolidated its leading role in the pet and veterinary market in Latin America and contributed to strengthening veterinary medicine and developing this important sector in our country," said Ligia Amorim, managing director of NürnbergMesse Brasil, the organiser of the trade show.
